Maria is interested in getting a summer internship at one of her local environmental agencies. She will still be living at home so she wants an easy commute. She is hoping to get some experience to add to her professional resume.
Maria started her search in early January, and found a couple listings on her hometown Facebook page and college job board. She's excited to have two interviews on her break.
Ricardo has been living on campus at his college upstate and wants to find a summer internship in the same area. He's been a little behind in looking, but was able to get a couple leads from his career advisor.
Next, he will do an internet search to see what other opportunities he finds. After running into Maria, and hearing she had interviews already, Ricardo decided he better ramp up his summer internship search!

Maria Follows Her Heart And Finds
an Unexpected Opportunity
After applying for a few local environmental internships, Maria felt unsure if they were right for her. Then a neighbor mentioned a local chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby, a grassroots advocacy organization aimed on national policies to address climate change.
Feeling excited, Maria investigates and volunteers to join their team for the summer. Now she will meet with Congressional leaders, write letters to the editors, meet with local media, educate her community about global warming and be an active part in legislative solutions.
